Creativity
1. Is the 'random' concept you have used today 'better' than weeks of research and planning for your CD cover?
The 'random' concept that I have used today saved time as we were given a set of rules/ links to follow, this helped as we didn't have to sit and try different names and different pictures, we just had to do what was generate. Whereas, weeks of research and planning was 'better' as we were allow to try our own ideas, and then change them if they needed to change. The research and planning let us do trial and error and be as creative as possible- if we had a reason behind using the idea. Being creative with the font and the picture allowed us to try and get the best results possible.
2. Does it make it 'easier' if your brief is narrow amd restricted, rather than open and 'free'?
I think that it is easier if the breif is narrow and restricted, as it allows you to follow set rules and is easier to plan if you have to follow a brief; however, it doesn't necessarily help the creativity of your products as you don't have the freedom to create what you want to create. Having a brief also limits the amount of trial and error you can do, but the results may not necessarily be better. Having an open and free choice allows you to experiement more with different types of images, fonts and lets you be more 'creative'. Being open and free means that more research and planning would need to be done before creativing your final product, as you don't have a 'basic brief' to follow- therefore, the results you end up with may not necessarily be better than you expected.
